Text: Lee Bouvier Radziwill Weds Herbert Ross, Film Director
The New York Times Sept. 24, 1988 Lee Bouvier Radziwill and Herbert Ross were married yesterday evening at the bride's home in New York by Justice E. Leo Milonas of the Appellate Division of State Supreme Court, First Department. After the ceremony, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the sister of the bride, gave a dinner party for the couple at her home in New York. Rudolf Nureyev, the dancer and director of the Paris Opera Ballet, and John Taras, the associate director of American Ballet Theater, attended the couple. Mrs. Ross, the director of special events for Giorgio Armani in New York, is a daughter of Janet Auchincloss of New York and Newport, R.I., and the late John Vernou Bouvier 3d, a stockbroker. She attended Miss Porter's School and Sarah Lawrence College. Her marriage to Prince Stanislas Radziwill ended in divorce. Her first marriage, to Michael Temple Canfield, was annulled. Mr. Ross is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Chester Ross of New York. He is also a choreographer. His films include ''Steel Magnolias,'' which will be released next year, ''Play It Again, Sam,'' ''The Sunshine Boys,'' ''The Goodbye Girl,'' ''The Turning Point,'' and ''The Seven-Per-Cent Solution.'' His first wife, Nora Kaye, the ballerina, died last year. A version of this article appears in print on Sept. 24, 1988, Section 1, Page 14 of the National edition |

Text: Director Says Goodbye, Girl / Ross, Radziwill end 12-year marriage
Liz Smith San Francisco Gate Newsday Jan. 19, 2000 That was quite a story Deborah Mitchell kicked off with the other day in an opposition tabloid -- that movie director Herb Ross and Lee Radziwill, the surviving sister of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, are divorcing after 12 years. Many of us stand amazed that this marriage lasted as long as it did. Herb, who directed such classics as "Play It Again, Sam," "The Owl and the Pussycat" and "The Goodbye Girl," is reported by intimates to have given his all to this impossible marriage. He was wed for 28 happy years to ballerina Nora Kaye, a happiness that ended when she died. Things with Lee haven't been so rosy. Last year, Lee and Herb ostensibly turned down a $19 million offer from Jerry Seinfeld for their East Hampton house. The Radziwill version -- that she wanted to keep the house so her son Anthony, then dying of cancer, could spend his last days there -- is to laugh, if not to cry. There is little evidence that Anthony, who died at 40, only weeks after his cousin JFK Jr.'s fatal plane crash, spent much time under his mother's roof. He was nourished at the end by his wife, Carole, and friends Diane Sawyer, Mike Nichols, Joan Ganz Cooney and Pete Peterson in their homes. My sources say Lee took this house off the market because it has her name and her husband's on it, and she is hoping to settle with him without having to share.
