Text: Jeanne Elaine Ripp Is to Marry Mark Kennedy Shriver in June
The New York Times March 8, 1992 Mrs. William G. Hildebrand of Greenwich, Conn., has announced the engagement of her daughter Jeanne Eileen Ripp to Mark Kennedy Shriver, a son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Sargent Shriver of Potomac, Md. Ms. Ripp is also a daughter of the late Dr. John A. Ripp Jr. of Old Westbury, L.I. A June wedding is planned. Ms. Ripp, 26 years old, is a territory manager for American Express Travel Related Services in Boston. She graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, as did her fiance. Her father was chief of pediatrics at Syosset Hospital in Syosset, L.I. Her late stepfather was the president and chief executive of the New York State Food Merchants Association in Hartsdale, N.Y. Mr. Shriver, 28, a nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy, founded and heads the Choice Program, which works with delinquent teen-agers and abused children in Baltimore. His mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founded Special Olympics International, the worldwide sports and training program for the mentally retarded, and is the executive vice president of the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation, named for her late brother, which finances research and programs for the mentally retarded. The prospective bridegroom's father, who was the first director of the Peace Corps under President Kennedy and the first director of the Office of Economic Opportunity under President Lyndon B. Johnson, is chairman of Special Olympics International and of counsel in the Washington office of the New York law firm of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. |
